MV Alexandrina-Chalifoux
Alexandrina Pelletier was born on August 27, 1896 in Sorel. She was 21 when she married Joseph-Napoléon Chalifoux, a 22-year-old farmer and blacksmith, on September 4, 1917 in Sorel. She got involved in the family farming business and, showing an innate sense for business, she began selling her surplus milk from her herd to the villagers in 1920.
The couple will have 10 children and their son, Jean-Paul Chalifoux, will be one of the first to obtain his pasteurization permit in 1942.
Alexandrina Pelletier-Chalifoux died on September 17, 1973 in Sorel, where she lived all her life.
Four generations later, Laiterie Chalifoux is still present in the Sorel-Tracy region and the members of the family are still involved in the dairy product processing business.
